October 28, 2015—The area’s top educators walked away with honors during the eighth annual Education Celebration, hosted by Summit County Educational Service Center (SCESC). Clark Bookman of Field Local Schools was named Teacher of the Year, and Dina Edwards of Woodridge Local Schools was named Rookie of the Year. Sam Reynolds, retired Manchester Local School District superintendent, received the 2015 Lifetime Educator Award.

Seventeen teachers from the Summit County and surrounding area, SCESC member districts, were nominated to the All-Star Teaching Team, and from that team the Teacher of the Year was selected by a selection committee. Bookman, who teaches 8th grade special education at Field Middle School, and the Rookie of the Year received the top awards along with a $250 check for classroom supplies and projects from the Akron Beacon Journal’s Newspaper in Education Program.

“All students learn differently – they have extremely different learning modalities, needs and strengths, and I work to meet the needs of students at all levels,” said Bookman, following the ceremony.
